We have a really great program here. We're trying to get into the community, understand their story, and then give them the proper way to move forward.
Learning that California Western has this free legal clinic throughout San Diego, I feel like it was an amazing opportunity.
We are a legal clinic and able to speak with you about any legal issues or problems you may be facing.
When you're in law school, you focus so much about the law and not necessarily about the people. So here we're able to help people find the issues, feel like we're actually giving back to the community.
Students for the first time in their law school career, are actually having that experience of seeing somebody who's in crisis or seeing somebody who's has a problem that needs to be solved. It's an empowering experience for the students.
In law school, they can teach you as much as they can try and teach you. A lot of law, a lot of understanding. They can even try and explain to you the procedure and the practice. But there's something about doing it hands-on.
How to bring that person in, how to get everything set up, how to get to that point where you have the necessary facts and information to help them out. And that's kind of what this clinic does, is it really sets you up to start your legal profession.
You're not sitting kind of desk, just writing paper, going through the motions, you're actually interacting with clients or interacting with attorneys.
Just to see how the attorneys are working in their elements, how different people deal with clients and real world experiences. But this is like, I think as real as it gets.
