STEPPS Toward Practice
California Western offers students a year long class that supports the connection between the concepts you’re learning in lectures and real world practice. The class is called STEPPS: Skills Training for Ethical Practice and Professional Satisfaction.
Students develop their legal writing and research skills, interview, counsel and negotiate on behalf of simulated clients, learn the values of collaboration and professionalism, and begin developing their professional identity all under the coaching and support of an attorney mentor from the San Diego area. STEPPS is the ideal compliment to your second year in law school when the foundational principles of your first year studies are under your belt, and you’re beginning to explore life out in the legal community among your future colleagues.
